Local Routes

Whilst not recognised on any official running routes, Longworth Runners have several routes we run regularly. The main constriction being that of time the routes tend to be no longer than 60 minutes in duration (depending on your running speed of course!). All of the routes are loops and start at Longworth Village Hall, with many of the loops using the same start and finish roads/paths it allows runners to choose differing length loops to hopefully allow everyone to meet back at the village hall 60 minutes later.

HINTON LOOP - Approximately 2 miles long the Hinton Loop is the shortest run usually undertaken. The run takes you along the footpath between Longworth and Hinton Waldrist (past Longworth Manner) where fantastic views of the river Thames can be seen. A loop around the Village of Hinton follows to return back via the footpath.

DUXFORD LOOP - Approximately 4 miles long the Duxford Loop is an extension of the Hinton Loop. Instead of running around Hinton village you continue down the Hill to Duxford (past the church on your left). When you get to Duxford Farm you branch left up the farm track and continue up the hill staying left completing a loop back to Hinton and picking up the Hinton Loop.

BUCKLAND LOOP - Approximately 6.5 miles long the Buckland Loop is an extension of the Duxford Loop. Instead of branching left at the farm you branch right across the fields heading towards the river Thames. Turn left at the river and follow path to 10 foot bridge which you cross. Turn right and head back towards Hinton along other side of river passing the Duxford lock. Turn right at the field and head up the Yellow brick road back into Hinton and pick up the back end of the Hinton Loop.

DUXFORD FORD - Approximately 5.5 miles long this route is the start of the Duxford loop and the end of the Buckland loop. Running down Duxford hill out of Hinton you take the right hand footpath at the thatched cottage towards the Duxford Ford. Yes you've guest it, you then run through the ford (obviously this is a summer run unless you fancy a cold swim!). Head across the fields and pick up the Buckland Loop by the lock.

FYFIELD MEADOWS - Approximately 6.5 miles long you run out of Longworth towards Fyfield. Turn left opposite the Fyfield turning down a farm track towards the River Thames. Follow river to the Rose Revived pub. Turn left at the main road and run up the road for approx 200 yards. Turn right onto public footpath taking you across fields back to Longworth.

LONGWORTH 10K - Exactly 10k in length as measured by on of the locals! The best kept secret route of the club. This route will be found out on race days!

Many more routes are undertaken during the course of the year but the routes listed above tend to be the more favoured. I am sure you can appreciate there is much cross country running and little road running, plus beautiful scenery on all the routes. To view maps of the routes CLICK HERE
